Professor Erik Næsset, the leader of our research group, was in 2011 awarded the Marcus Wallenberg Prize (MWP) for his research on using laser scanners in forest inventory. In June, Dina Dedic (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden) interviewed Erik, on behalf of the MWP, to learn what’s happened since then. Erik was asked what he is thinking about future possibilities for using laser technology in mapping and monitoring of forests. His answer is reflecting the focus of the research group he is the head of:
“Surveillance on a regional, national and global scale with high frequency in time”.
