Mapping forest resources on regional and national levels

One of the aims of INA’s laser research is to develop better and more cost-effective methods.
The mapping system that the Norwegian government uses today to describe the nation’s forest resources (Landskogstaksering) is based on expensive on-the-ground-observations. INA’s aim is to develop methods based on LIDAR that will give the government a better and cheaper overview of the resources on a national level. This research is done in close cooperation with leading research environments in Sweden (SLU) and USA (NASA, Yale University).
